Supabase Project Paused or Stuck? Build a Recovery Evidence Packet

Organize redacted Supabase billing, dashboard, status, and error evidence into a UTC timeline, contradiction matrix, safe checklist, and support-ready draft.

Bottom line

Follow the official pause or billing path first. When the dashboard, invoice, and service states conflict, preserve timestamps and sources before changing anything or escalating.

Supabase recovery evidence FAQ

Separate evidence organization from account access, diagnosis, and repair.

Will an evidence packet unpause or repair my Supabase project?

No. Only the relevant Supabase workflow or support team can change the project state. The packet organizes already-redacted evidence so you can see what is known, what conflicts, and what to verify next.

Should I include API keys, passwords, tokens, or connection strings?

No. Redact credentials, secrets, personal information, and unnecessary customer data before using any evidence tool or sharing a support draft.

Is every paused project a billing problem?

No. Supabase documents several reasons for restricted or paused states, including Free Plan inactivity and overdue invoices. Use your own dashboard, billing record, error codes, and official documentation to distinguish them.

Verify the current platform guidance

These official references support the documented states and recovery boundaries in this guide. Platform behavior can change, so review the current source before acting.

Step 1

Identify the documented state before acting

Supabase documents different pause and restriction paths. Free Plan inactivity, an overdue invoice, a usage restriction, and a project that appears stuck can require different next steps. Record the exact state shown in the dashboard and the time you observed it instead of assuming a cause.

  • Record the visible organization and project state with sensitive identifiers masked
  • Capture the invoice or plan state from the official billing page
  • Record relevant HTTP or dashboard error codes exactly
  • Check the official status page for a matching platform incident

Step 2

Build a source-linked UTC timeline

Put each event in UTC and retain its source label. A useful packet distinguishes what the dashboard showed, what an invoice showed, what an application request returned, what the public status page reported, and what a person inferred.

  • Normalize timestamps while preserving the original value
  • Label every observation with its file, page, or message source
  • Separate observed facts from assumptions and proposed causes
  • Flag missing times, unclear ownership, and unsupported conclusions

Step 3

Surface contradictions instead of hiding them

A support-ready packet should make conflicting states easy to see. For example, a paid invoice, a paused dashboard state, and an application error can coexist without proving why the project has not recovered.

  • Compare billing, dashboard, application, and platform-status evidence
  • Preserve exact wording without treating it as a root-cause determination
  • List which missing observation could resolve each conflict
  • Avoid repeated configuration changes while the state remains unclear

Step 4

Use the official recovery path and escalate safely

Follow the applicable Supabase instructions for the documented state. Preserve backups where available, verify services one at a time after a state change, and send support a concise packet when official steps do not match what you observe.

  • Use Supabase Studio or billing controls only through your authorized account
  • Do not paste credentials into an incident summary or support draft
  • Verify database, Auth, Storage, Realtime, and Functions separately
  • Ask support to reconcile the specific contradictory observations

Step 5

Automate organization, not recovery authority

The Supabase Recovery Evidence Agent is a local Python utility for already-redacted evidence. It produces deterministic JSON and Markdown, rejects common secret patterns, and makes no network requests. It does not access Supabase, repair a project, determine root cause, or contact support.

  • Local-only processing with no Supabase credentials
  • Timeline, contradictions, missing evidence, checklist, and escalation draft
  • Source, sample input, and 11 unit tests included
  • Operator review and redaction remain required before sharing
